Walleye challenge lures 300

The Spokesman-Review

Nearly the entire Columbia River, from Grand Coulee Dam to the Canadian border, will be open to competitors in the Two Rivers Walleye Championship Saturday and Sunday based out of Two Rivers RV Park.

A limit of 150 two-person teams is paying $285 apiece for a chance to win the $10,000 first prize.

The teams, which start competing at 6:30 a.m. each day, also are vying for $6,000 for second place and up to $5,000 for each day’s big fish.

The tournament is produced as a benefit for Spokane Walleye Club fisheries projects. Sponsors include Two Rivers Casino, White’s Outdoor and Lund-Marks Marine.

“This is the richest tournament in the Northwest,” said White’s Outdoor spokesman Alan Roberts.

Following the afternoon weigh-in, the walleyes will be released back into Lake Roosevelt.
