Vandals cause damage at Mirabeau Park
Spokane Valley employees are repairing vandalism at Mirabeau Meadows Park.
Since Valleyfest will use the park this Saturday, fixing metal railings cut by vandals got top priority this week, said Valley Parks and Recreation Director Mike Jackson. The metal railings line a handicap ramp and a stairway to an outdoor stage at the park.
The vandalism was discovered by city employees on Monday. It likely happened sometime over the weekend, Jackson said.
Steel tubing had been cut, most likely with a hacksaw. It appears that skateboarders may have cut the railings to ride on, according to the Spokane Valley Police Department, which is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
