First Word in error

Due to an editing error, an item in the First Word column on page A1 Friday incorrectly said a confidential letter had been sent to Canadian company Teck Cominco Ltd. by the U.S. State Department. The letter was sent to the Canadian government.

Wheat price wrong

Due to a clerical error, the price for Portland soft white wheat was listed incorrectly in the Markets at a Glance box in the Business section. The correct price was $3.93.

Business acronym incorrect

The correct acronym for the company managing Idaho’s college savings program is TIAA-CREF. A business columnist misstated the name in Thursday’s newspaper.

Education story in error

The Idaho State Board of Education oversaw development of the Idaho Standards Achievement Test. A story on Page A1 on Aug. 28 incorrectly reported the information.

Rabbi’s response clarified

A Thursday story about the Jewish response to “The Producers” included a 1997 quote from Rabbi Jack Izakson on the significance of Yom Kippur. Shortly after the original story was published in 1997, the rabbi wrote a letter to the editor apologizing for any misunderstanding caused by the analogy he used.

Person’s title incorrect

A caption on the front page of Friday’s newspaper incorrectly stated Steven Trabun’s title. He is the VPnet project consultant for Avista.
