Cheney firefighter memorial rite Sunday

The Cheney Fire Department will dedicate a new firefighter memorial at 1 p.m. Sunday in front of the fire station at 611 Fourth St.

An open house will follow the dedication ceremony.

The memorial recognizes members past and present who have given 20 years or more of service to the department.

Deceased members will have a small fire helmet engraved next to their names.

The memorial was made possible by private donations.

Sunday kicks off Fire Prevention Week/

Fire prevention information will be distributed at the open house.
