Moscow sweeps Sandpoint in softball doubleheader, 12-2 and 5-2

Moscow swept a pair of Inland Empire League softball games with visiting Sandpoint on Thursday, stopping the Bulldogs 12-2 in the opener and 5-2 in the nightcap.

Jenny McMillan checked Sandpoint on four hits in the first game, backed by a five-run first inning by the Bears.

The Bulldogs took advantage of a pair of Moscow fielding errors and scored twice in the first inning of game two, but the Bears rallied with three runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth. Dana Weaver fanned six to earn the win in the second game.

Katie Stokes two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh scored two runs, lifting Mt. Spokane to a 4-3 Greater Spokane League victory over visiting Shadle Park. … Whitney McDaniel twirled a one-hit shutout to lift Central Valley past visiting Cheney, 2-0, evening the Bears’ record at 2-2.
