Tuesday event will explain Running Start program

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College will team up for a Running Start information night from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lair Student Center, Building 6, at SCC, 1810 N. Greene St.

Running Start at SCC and SFCC is open to area public high school juniors and seniors. It allows students to earn community college credits while completing high school academic requirements.

Running Start college credits transfer to most four-year colleges and universities in the state. This permits students to begin college with advanced standing, and the community colleges’ lower tuition rate allows families to save on college expenses.

Running Start students also can enroll in SCC and SFCC’s professional-technical programs, such as culinary arts, automotive technology, graphic design or environmental sciences, and earn a two-year associate in applied science degree.

High school students and parents can meet current Running Start students attending SCC and SFCC to hear firsthand about their college experiences at the Information Night. Running Start counselors/coordinators will be available to explain how students can enroll in the program.

Running Start Information Night is free.
