Small fire damages classroom in Mead

From staff reports

A small fire burned a corner of a portable classroom at Mead Middle School Tuesday evening, damaging desks and books and causing smoke damage.

The school building itself was not harmed and no one was injured.

Alerted by alarm at 8:52 p.m., Fire District 9 responded quickly from a station across the street, limiting damage. The cause remains under investigation, but the fire did not appear suspicious, said Capt. Greg Anderson.
