Free horse rides for kids available downtown

From staff reports

Horses and carriages, ice cream, colorful balloons and clowns – those are just some of the treats for children at Kids Ride Free Night from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the corner of Main and Wall.

Children can journey through downtown on a horse and carriage at no charge if they are accompanied by a paying adult.

The rides, which cost $5 for adults, are provided by Mont Lamm Belgians, a Clayton, Wash.-based company.

Spokane Teachers Credit Union and the Downtown Spokane Partnership are sponsoring the event.

Besides getting a tour of the town, participants can also stop at Macy’s from 4 to 8 p.m. for some free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, face-painting and other activities, Downtown Spokane Partnership spokeswoman Marla Nunberg said.

Carriage rides are offered from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays through the end of August.
