City puts three renovated residential units on market

Three city-owned residential properties on the North Side have been renovated by the Spokane Service Team and are now being put up for sale by the city of Spokane.

The City Council on Monday approved a resolution providing for the sales of residences at 1027 E. Glass, 1318 E. Glass and 2614 E. Joseph avenues.

The city’s housing rehabilitation program had filed liens on the properties and the community development department acquired them as a result of loan forfeiture and foreclosure actions related to community development loans, city documents said.

The properties were subsequently renovated by the service team and will be sold at market values. Proceeds will be returned to the city’s single-family housing rehabilitation program, which relies on federal community development grants.

In a separate resolution, the council approved a proposal to offer two other properties for sale to Inland Empire Residential Resources for $102,000.

The properties include a home at 3008 E. Euclid Ave. and a vacant lot at 3004 E. Euclid Ave. The nonprofit housing agency plans to renovate the existing home and build housing on the adjacent lot. They will be made available to low-income residents at affordable rates for at least five years, according to city documents.

One of the residences will be offered to persons with developmental disabilities. The other will be available for persons in abuse substance recovery.

The residential lot was acquired through a community development loan foreclosure. The vacant lot was purchased by the city from Spokane County, which took it over in a tax foreclosure.

Also Monday, the council set a hearing for Sept. 12 on the proposed vacation of Granite Street from North Crescent to Montgomery avenues. The hearing will be held near the end of the council’s 6 p.m. legislative session.
