YOUR BEAUTIFUL HOME

Since they’re both musicians, David and Jean Dutton need a big house with plenty of room for instruments and recording equipment.

That’s exactly what they found in 1998 when David bought the 14th Avenue home that was built around 1910.

David is artistic director at Allegro Baroque and Beyond. He plays the oboe and Jean plays the piano. They’ve done a few recordings in their home.

“The old houses have 9-foot ceilings in them and they’re nice to play in,” he says.

Painted in pastel pinks and yellows, the Dutton house has a large wrap-around front porch and an upstairs balcony. They haven’t done much remodeling because they love it the way it is.

“It’s just a great big old house,” David says. “We rehearse in the living room and dining room some of the time. Musicians need to have a lot of space.”
