Tricia Oster, of Colbert, is new to the world of antiques and collectibles, but she’s quickly getting the hang of it.

“I’ve just been buying things for about a year, since we built our new house,” she said. “But I’ve learned to buy what catches my eye.”

Shopping with friends at the September Farm Chicks sale in Fairfield, Oster snagged a pair of canisters from an old set for her own kitchen. In addition to the canisters, Oster displays her budding collection of vintage metal electric fans in the space over her cupboards.

“I’m just getting started. I have some old suitcases that I stack up and I have an old bench on my front porch,” she said, adding that her mother-in-law is a collector and encourages her new hobby. “Now I’m looking for bedroom furniture.”
