When Guy and Shawna Byrd purchased their home in Eagle Ridge, they chose it because of the characteristics of the lot on which it sat.

“What we liked the most were the contours of the property,” Guy Byrd said. “It was different from the house we had lived in before.”

After moving in, the couple hired Grant Keller, owner of Terrabella Landscaping, to tame the space.

“He had a good vision of what we could do,” Keller said. “He worked with the land and made it into a great place for the whole family.

The couple’s three children, ages 6, 10 and 11, like to spend time around the small pond. Benches, a patio and a fire pit make it a year-round gathering place.

Outdoor lighting, including lights in the multi-level waterfall that feeds into the pond, adds to the drama.

Future plans include adding a perennial garden around the pond.

“Originally, we didn’t think the budget would stretch to include all this,” Byrd said. “But we kept coming back to it over and over again, and ultimately, it was the best thing we could have done.”
