A favorite of needlecrafters who enjoy thread crochet, filet crochet is a combination of chains, slip stitches, single crochets, double crochets, triple crochets and double triple crochet stitches. These stitches form a series of blocks – some open, some filled – that together create intricate, lacy designs.

What you need

A new, full-color, 16-page guidebook, “Filet Throws,” incorporates those designs into five elegant, sport-weight throws that will add an air of sophistication to any room. Just right for afternoon naps or getting cozy by the fire, all five designs are too pretty to put away, and they make lovely gifts.

The book features charts, materials lists and step-by-step instructions for each design. A short filet-crochet review and a stitch guide make it easy to get started and a full-color photo of each completed project will help you stay on track. A word about gauge, a glossary of abbreviations and symbols, metric conversion charts and a guide to standard yarn weights round out the collection.

Designs include the multicolored “Patchwork” (pictured), “Alphabetically” (which incorporates a complete filet alphabet perfect for a child’s room), “Butterflies,” “Bouquet” and “Allure.”

How to order

“Filet Throws,” No. AN1385, is $6.95. If you’re new to filet crochet, a 40-page guidebook, “Learn to do Filet Crochet in Just One Day,” No. AN1281, is available for $8.95. Please include $3.00 for postage and handling and allow about two weeks for delivery.
