Lunstroth, Trainor join EVSD board

Two new board members were sworn in at the East Valley School District Board of Directors meeting Tuesday night.

Kerri Lunstroth, who ran uncontested in the November election for Director District 4, took the seat left vacant by longtime board member Sue Wentz, who did not seek another term.

Roger Trainor of Newman Lake beat five-year board member and incumbent Wayne Stewart for the Director District 5 seat.

June Sine, who has served on the board for 14 years, was sworn in for another four-year term.

The board underwent reorganization, with Sine moving from the position of board chair, to vice president of the board. Board member Mike King will take over as board chairperson.

The new board members and Sine took their seats, as students from the Otis Orchards elementary School sang holiday carols.

The Central Valley School District board of directors also made several changes to the makeup of the board at its regular meeting Monday.

In a unanimous vote Lynn Trantow became the board president, taking over the positions from longtime board member Anne Long. Long, who ran unopposed in the November election for another four years, has been serving as board president for the past two years.

Debra Long became the board vice president.

Tom Dingus, who also ran unopposed in the November election for his seat, will be the legislative representative.
