Spokane City Council

3:30 p.m. Monday, Council Chambers, City Hall, Acting Mayor Dennis Hession to turn over council gavel to Council President Pro Tem Joe Shogan. Also, a reception is planned after the 3:30 p.m. meeting for outgoing Councilwoman Cherie Rodgers. In addition, at 5:30 p.m., newly elected council members Al French, Nancy McLaughlin and Mary Verner will be sworn in to four-year terms.

6 p.m. Monday, Council Chambers, City Hall, discussion and a possible vote on creation of an ethics commission as a watchdog of city government.

Spokane Valley City Council

6 p.m. Tuesday, Spokane Valley City Hall, 11707 E. Sprague Ave. Council members will be sworn in for their new terms at the study session. There also will be a presentation from the Ad Hoc Sign Committee and a presentation on off-road vehicle use.
