Two stabbed at Post Falls party

Thomas Clouse Staff writer

POST FALLS – Post Falls police are trying to solve an attack at a party Sunday night that resulted in two men suffering stab wounds.

A 21-year-old man, whom police have not identified, was treated for a stab wound and released. But a 20-year-old remains at Kootenai Medical Center where he underwent surgery to treat a deflated lung, Post Falls police Lt. Greg McLean said.

“The one in KMC doesn’t really recall anything,” McLean said. “The one who was released didn’t really know what happened, other than they were jumped by two to five people.”

Post Falls authorities didn’t even know about the reported attack until about 9:30 p.m. Sunday when an ambulance was called to a home in Coeur d’Alene.

Coeur d’Alene police officers then learned that the stabbing had occurred at a house in Post Falls on Second Street. Post Falls police previously have responded to several party complaints at that house, McLean said.

Investigators don’t have a possible motive. The two victims don’t have any known gang affiliations, but the attackers were reported to be wearing red coats and baseball hats, and the victims were both wearing blue coats, McLean said.

Detectives spoke with the 20-year-old but hope to get more detail when he is more coherent. The wounds are not thought to be life-threatening.

“We’re not getting a lot of people coming forward right now,” McLean said. “We are just trying to track down what happened.”

Investigators don’t know who was at the party or how many people were there at the time of the assault.

“We are looking for any potential witnesses,” McLean said.
