But Arizona has shown some signs of recovering from a weak early start, winning five games in a row. … Washington is averaging nearly 19 points a game more than any other team in the conference, and the Huskies are blowing out opponents by an average margin of 25.4 points a game. The undefeated Huskies (9-0) are off to their best start since going 14-0 to open the 1975-76 season. Twelve more points will give Huskies senior forward Bobby Jones 1,000 points for his career. … … Washington State plays its first Pac-10 road game of the season against the Huskies on Jan. 7. … Cal’s Leon Powe appears to be back into form after missing all of last season with a knee injury. Powe leads the conference in scoring and is among the leaders in rebounding.
