CVSD seeks community members for planning team

The Central Valley School District is seeking residents to sit on a committee aimed at shaping the direction of the district’s schools over the next several years.

The district is developing a plan and needs parents, students, employees, business leaders, elected officials, community members, retirees and others with an interest to get involved, said Melanie Rose, district spokeswoman.

Committee members will spend two Saturdays as part of the Strategic Planning Team. Meetings are scheduled for Jan. 28 and Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants should plan on attending both sessions.

Strategic Planning Team members will be asked to learn about the issues that affect education, discuss beliefs about education, create a vision and develop major goals.

The sessions will be led by two facilitators with the Washington State School Directors Association, also known as WSSDA.

After community input is gathered during from participants, district staff will develop a plan to take before the school board.
