Churches plan New Year’s services

Churches are looking toward 2006 and starting the year with special worship services.

“ The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is offering a New Year’s celebration Saturday at 6 p.m.

The evening kicks off with an open labyrinth walk lead by Spiritus, the diocesan center for spirituality, and the cathedral’s labyrinth committee. Visitors can come and go or stay for the whole evening.

There will be a Harmony Walk from 10 to 10:30 p.m. and a Communion service at 11.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2 W. Third Ave., is offering New Year’s Day worship at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., is presenting two services to celebrate the New Year.

The first is at 7 p.m. Saturday and includes Communion.

The second will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, and there will be no Bible class or Sunday school that day.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St., is offering a 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve Eucharist service and a 9 a.m. New Year’s Day Eucharist service.
