Driver comes forward in fatal hit-and-run
A driver who apparently struck a man who was lying in the street after being hit by another vehicle has contacted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 25, Former Othello City Councilman Lester L. Clemons, 89, was killed when he was hit by a car near his Othello residence. The car did not stop.
While another motorist called for help, another vehicle hit Clemons and also did not stop. On Wednesday, Hugo Arvizu, 35, of Othello, contacted the Sheriff’s Office and said he was driving his van at the time and place of the accident when “he ran over an unknown object,” Adams County Sheriff Doug Barger said in a press release.
The case will be submitted to the Adams County prosecutor for review.
