High performing schools workshops canceled by district
Two community workshops highlighting academic achievement and safety issues in the East Valley School District have been canceled due to lack of interest, a district spokeswoman said.
The district had scheduled the Second Annual High Performing Schools Workshops for February, but as of Tuesday had received only three calls from people interested in attending, said Judi Christianson, district information specialist.
Last year more than 100 people attended the two community meetings. The mini-worships were created to let community provide input regarding academics and safety in the district’s schools.
From the information gathered from the community members at last year’s workshops, the district was able to present 40 action items before the school board for review, Christianson said.
The workshops will not be rescheduled.
