Substitute Senate Bill 5097 – apprenticeship utilization: Would require the use of apprentices on state public works projects estimated at $1 million or more. For public works construction contracts issued by the state, no less than 15 percent of the labor hours are to be performed by apprentices. State four-year institutions of higher learning are exempt. The bill passed the Senate, 27-19.

House Bill 1202 – district court judges: Would increase the number of district court judges in Kitsap and Thurston counties. This bill increases the number of district court judges in Thurston County from two to three and in Kitsap County from three to four. The bill passed the House of Representatives 96-0.

House Bill 1206 – repealing obsolete or superseded laws: Would provide for the repeal of certain state laws that are considered obsolete or are superseded by other laws. This bill repeals various statutes dealing with slander of a woman, labor laws, liquor sales and ambulance drivers. The bill passed the House of Representatives 96-0.
