IASI, Romania – A Romanian woman who gave birth to a son in December has delivered his twin brother two months later, doctors said.

Maricica Tescu delivered a 5-pound, 11-ounce baby Monday, 59 days after his brother was born weighing 3 pounds, eight ounces.

Dr. Mircea Onofriescu, who manages the Cuza Voda Maternity Hospital in the northeast city of Iasi, said the babies are doing well with the first child now weighing the same as his brother. They will be released in about a week.

Onofriescu attributed the time lag in the births to a rare congenital condition that gave Tescu two uteruses.

Tescu, a gardener, also has an 11-year-old son.
