SEATTLE – Jason Terry may have set a Dallas Mavericks record Sunday night when he needed 74 tickets for family and friends as he made his return to his hometown.

Nobody could remember any player needing that many for any game.

Terry grew up in Seattle with nine brothers and sisters. It was a humble start to what is now a wonderful life.

“We grew up in the central part of Seattle in kind of a lower-income area,” Terry said. “But we could look out from our house and see Mercer Island.”

So when Terry made it to the NBA, he bought his mother a house on Mercer Island. When told that his mother was lucky to have such a son, Terry didn’t hesitate to respond.

“I’m lucky to have a mom like her,” he said. “I never would have made it this far without her.”

Terry had six points and six assists as Dallas beat Seattle 95-92 on Sunday. He made the go-ahead 3-pointer in the final minute.
