East Valley rode a big third quarter to grab the Greater Spokane League’s No. 2 3A seed, downing North Central 58-53 at Mt. Spokane.

NC (11-11) will be the GSL’s No. 3 seed into the 3A regional.

Kylee Williamson drilled a pair of big 3-pointers in the third quarter, during which the Knights (10-12) went from down by four points to leading by six going into the final quarter. Lindsey Jacobs led East Valley with 13 points.

Great Northern League

Cardinals in, Colville out

Medical Lake earned the sixth and final Great Northern League playoff spot by scoring a 57-45 victory at Colville in a tie-breaker game. Colville and the Cardinals each finished with 1-11 league records, tied for sixth place. Miranda Spilker poured in 24 points to lead the Cardinals (6-15) over Colville (2-19).

1A District 7

Scotties win a squeaker

Jessie DePell sank two free throws with 11 seconds left to lift Freeman (19-2) to a 51-49 victory over Colfax in the 1A District 7 playoffs at Mead, sending the Scotties to the State 1A tournament for the first time since 2000. DePell led all scorers with 19 points for Freeman. Colfax (14-8) plays Newport on Tuesday at Mead in a winner-to-state game. The winner of that game plays Freeman on Friday, also at Mead, for state seeding. … Newport 51, Kettle Falls 41: The Grizzlies finished the NEA season winless in six league games, but pulled out a victory when it counted over the Bulldogs (11-11). Newport (10-12) gave up the lead briefly in the fourth quarter, but took control down the stretch behind Maria Barranco, who hit a jumper to put the Grizzlies ahead for good with 6 minutes left, and Megan Stanley, who scored 12 of her team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter.

1A District 9

Big third quarter lifts L-W

LaCrosse-Washtucna (18-5) went on a 22-9 run through the third quarter to score a 65-50 victory over Dayton at the B District 9 tournament at Walla Walla Community College. Jennifer Ayers-Stamper and Mo Webley scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Tigercats. … DeSales 56, Colton 39: DeSales took command in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 18-8 to take an 18-point lead into the final period. Natalie Stout scored 10 points to lead Colton (8-16). … Tekoa-Oakesdale 64, Waitsburg 35: The Nighthawks (16-8) survived the loser-out game behind the 14 points and 10 rebounds of Mallory Puckett.
