New ballots mailed for school levy

Pend Oreille County Auditor Carla Heckford said Wednesday that she is mailing new ballots to all voters in the Cusick School District’s March 8 levy election.

Heckford said numerous complaints from district residents who hadn’t received their ballots prompted an audit. The audit showed that an equipment failure caused a substantial number of address labels not to be printed.

Voters who have already used a ballot mailed Feb. 16 should disregard the new one, Heckford said.
