District 9: They’ll be cutting down the nets Friday at WSU, where the Southeast District championships will be held, with the winner heading to the State B tournament. The loser has to come back Saturday for a treacherous loser-out game. In the boys game, DeSales (21-1) plays LaCrosse-Washtucna (19-4) at 8. L-W is led by 6-foot-3 junior Matt Martin, who is averaging 21 points over his last six games. The girls game features DeSales (17-6) against Garfield-Palouse (21-2). Both are looking to make a return trip to the state tournament. Gar-Pal is holding opponents to 33 points a game during the postseason.

District 7: Two B girls teams share the longest current winning streak in the state, and both are playing at the Northeast District tournament. Almira/Coulee-Hartline (22-2) has won 17 straight, and will play Curlew (21-3) tonight at 6:45 at Mt. Spokane to try and earn a spot in the district championship and a fifth straight state tournament appearance. Sophomore Kami Clark has led the Warriors in the postseason, averaging 22.3 points in four games. The past four seasons have seen ACH finish second, third, sixth and second at the state tournament. This year is head coach Mike Correia’s first at the helm of the Warriors. The other team with a 17-game winning streak is Cusick (23-1), which plays Sprague-Harrington (20-4) tonight at 5 at Mt. Spokane. The Panthers are searching for their first state tournament appearance. Senior Kimberly Bluff is averaging 21.8 points a game in the postseason, including 31 in the Panorama League championship win over Curlew. The league championship was the first girls title in school history.
