Burn ban still in effect
The state Department of Ecology is requesting residents to refrain from burning this weekend because of a weather pattern that is likely to trap smoke.
The high-pressure system is expected to remain over Eastern Washington through the weekend, causing air pollution to build in valleys.
The Spokane County Air Pollution Control Authority issued a ban this week on the use of wood stoves and fireplaces that aren’t certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. That ban remains in effect.
