Daniel Kickert scored a career-high 32 points and Paul Marigney added 23 as St. Mary’s outlasted San Diego at San Diego. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Gaels. San Diego’s Brandon Gay had two chances to tie the game with 3-pointers in the final 10 seconds, but the first try bounced off the rim and the second fell short. … Alex Acker had 23 points, including 18 in the second half, as Pepperdine rallied for a comeback win over Loyola Marymount in Malibu, Calif. … Alan Wiggins scored 10 of his career-high 16 points in the second half as San Francisco defeated Santa Clara in San Francisco. With Pepperdine and USF both winning, they remain tied for fifth place, with Pepperdine getting the fifth seed in the conference tournament by virtue of its season sweep of the Dons. Santa Clara secured the third seed over San Diego. They split during the regular season, and with both teams losing twice to Gonzaga, Santa Clara won the tiebreaker, having beaten the No. 2 seed Saint Mary’s twice.

The Hornets clinched a winning record in the Big Sky regular season for the first time since joining the conference in 1996.
