Two will retire from Valley Fire

Two longtime Spokane Valley firefighters have retired.

Harold Kellams and Bob Rees were both fire equipment operators with the Spokane Valley Fire Department.

Kellams was hired in 1978. He was first a firefighter and had been a fire equipment operator, driving fire trucks to emergencies, since 1984, according to a department press release.

Rees was hired in 1974 as a firefighter. He had been a fire equipment operator since 1981, according to the press release.

Both men were commended for their professionalism, courage and dedication, according to the release.
