Spanaway soldier killed in Balad

A 20-year-old soldier from Spanaway, Wash., has been killed in Iraq, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Pfc. Curtis L. Wooten III died Tuesday in Balad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle, the agency said in a news release.
No other soldiers were killed in the attack.
Wooten was born at Fort Riley, Kan., and joined the Army in August 2002. He was an armor crewman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division at Schweinfurt, Germany.
