Stockwell’s 3-pointer at buzzer lifts Trojans

Scott Stockwell drilled a 25-footer over a defender at the buzzer to lift Post Falls to a 65-62 Inland Empire League victory at Sandpoint Tuesday.

Stockwell connected on 5 of 9 shots from beyond the arc and finished with 22 points to lead the Trojans. KC Billetz added 14 points and Kyle Turpin 11 for Post Falls (6-5, 3-1).

Post Falls shot 62 percent form long distance and finished with 12 bonus baskets.

Ben Mitchel had 22 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-6, 1-3), including a field goal to tie the score at 64 in the final minute. Mitchel added 14 rebounds.

Lewiston 51, Coeur d’Alene 44: The Bengals defended their home court by going on a 19-9 romp through the fourth quarter. Bo Gregg pumped in 16 points to lead Lewiston (3-6, 1-3 IEL). Nate Bligh had 13 points to lead the Vikings (5-5, 2-2).

Fast start saves Miners

Wallace jumped to a 22-4 lead over visiting Kootenai in the first quarter and held on for a 69-39 victory. Craig Birdsong led all scorers with 18 points and Stefan Norris scored nine of his 15 points in the first quarter for the Miners (4-6, 2-2). Tony Kraack scored 15 points to lead Kootenai (0-9, 0-2). … Post Falls Christian 70, Coeur d’Alene Charter 41: The Eagles cruised to the win on their home court. Matt Rouse and Danny Anderson each scored 13 points to lead PFC (11-4, 5-2). Josiahh Menzies’s 13 paced the Panthers (0-4, 0-3).

Deer Park raced to a 30-4 first-quarter advantage en route to a 67-33 victory over host Timberlake at Spirit Lake. Timberlake (4-5) got 10 points from Tim Brennan.
