Bus carrying 34 people crashes

Associated Press

DUNNIGAN, Calif. – A Greyhound bus carrying 34 passengers clipped a car and rolled onto its side on Friday, disrupting holiday traffic on the state’s major north-south corridor. No one was killed.

Four people were airlifted to a hospital; one was in critical condition, while the others had moderate injuries. All other passengers and the bus driver suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

The bus was traveling from Redding to Sacramento on Interstate 5 when it ran off the road about 40 miles north of Sacramento. Investigators believe the driver was trying to avoid hitting a car that had swerved in front of it.

The southbound lanes were closed to make room for helicopters and ambulances, but officials reopened at least one lane later in the morning.
