Couple arrested Thursday
A Spokane couple facing dozens of felony charges were arrested Thursday, less than a week after the twosome posted bond to get out of jail on previous charges.
The couple was committing their alleged crimes in Spokane Valley.
The woman’s 18-year-old son also was arrested after police searched the couple’s home, Spokane Valley police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said. Ian Curry was charged with possession of stolen property.
Charles Lee Prater, 46, faces 33 felony counts of first-degree theft, trafficking stolen property, possession of stolen property, second-degree burglary and residential burglary. Prater’s girlfriend, Ostennia Curry, 48, faces five felony counts for possession of stolen property and trafficking stolen property. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance on Thursday.
About 3:25 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a residence in the 6100 block of East Sixth Avenue where a man said someone was breaking into his pickup again, Reagan said. Before they arrived, the man confronted the thief with a pistol and he convinced the man to let him go back home and retrieve the stolen goods. The man agreed, but took the thief’s wallet as collateral.
Police found an address in the wallet and went to the home at 1907 E. Fifth Ave. where they found Curry and her son, Ian, Reagan said. Prater was loading a set of golf clubs thought to be stolen into a car.
Police entered the home to do a search after a stolen item was spotted inside, Reagan said. Crack cocaine and two pellet guns were among the items they discovered.
Man charged with voyeurism
Police arrested a repeat peeper Wednesday night after a woman spotted a man exposing himself outside her bedroom window in Spokane Valley.
About 11 p.m., police responded to an apartment complex in the 10100 block of East Main Avenue, Spokane Valley police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said. The woman said she’d seen a black male looking in her bedroom Monday night and when she went to check a lock on Tuesday, he was outside it masturbating.
The woman told police that the man outside her window pointed a flashlight at himself as if to show her what he was doing, Reagan said. He ran when she screamed.
Police set up surveillance on the suspect’s car and arrested him when he returned to it about two hours later, Reagan said.
Tracy F. Taylor, 34, of Spokane, was charged with voyeurism, Reagan said. Taylor has a record of exposure incidents.
Woman charged with burglary in garage break-in
A 33-year-old Greenacres woman arrested Thursday morning is a familiar face to police officers.
Officers responded to the 17400 block of East Third Avenue after a neighbor reported a woman burglarizing a residential garage, Reagan said. The neighbor had seen a woman park her bike behind the garage and when she took a closer look, she saw a woman rummaging through items stored in the garage.
Alice E. Omlor, 17611 E. Appleway Blvd., was charged with second-degree burglary, Reagan said.
Police found the back door of the garage kicked in and recognized Omlor. They ordered “Annie” out of the garage by name. The officers determined the woman may have been involved in an earlier burglary and went to a Greenacres home to retrieve stolen items.
