Associated Press

NOTES

Boston’s Manny Ramirez hit his 20th career grand slam Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas, the second-most total in major league history.

Ramirez hit his third grand slam of the season off Texas Rangers rookie Chris Young in the third inning. It was the 22nd homer of the season for Ramirez, who tied the Rangers’ Mark Teixeira for the American League lead.

Lou Gehrig holds the major league record with 23 grand slams. Hall of Famer Eddie Murray had 19.

“Injured ace Curt Schilling will probably need at least one more rehab start before returning to the Boston rotation.

Schilling struggled Monday in what was supposed to be his final rehab outing before returning to the big league rotation, allowing five runs in five innings for Boston’s Triple-A team in Pawtucket.

“Red Sox closer Keith Foulke will leave the team and return to Boston to determine if a knee problem is the cause of his struggles. The disabled list is a possibility, manager Terry Francona said.
