Look at my treasure!

Richard Fode sits by his mother's old dough table that he spent about a month refinishing to near-new condition.

Richard Fode stands beside the old dough table used by his mother to make bread for the family.

Fode spent a month restoring the table. He painted it to match the original light-green color and replaced the original work surface with copper. The bins below the top of the table held sugar and flour.

In addition to the table, and other items, Fode has also restored the large cabinet-model Philco radio that belonged to his wife, Marilyn’s, family.

When she wrote to tell us about her husband’s work rescuing family treasures, Marilyn Fode couldn’t say enough about her husband’s work.

“I’m proud of him,” she said. “I guess you can tell.”
