Comets earn sixth straight win
Janeth Arcain scored with 2.7 seconds remaining, giving the Houston Comets their sixth straight victory Thursday night with a 65-63 win over the Indiana Fever at Indianapolis.
Arcain, who finished with 16 points, scored both of the Comets’ baskets in the final 36 seconds. Both came on assists from Sheryl Swoopes.
Swoopes scored all 14 of her points in the second half for Houston. Tamika Catchings led Indiana with 26 points, but her 22-foot shot at the buzzer bounced off the rim.
Liberty 89, Sun 79: At New York, Shameka Christon scored eight straight points – including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:47 remaining – and New York used a 26-9 run to close out Connecticut. New York’s Ann Wauters had a career-high 23 points, while Connecticut’s Lindsay Whalen had a career-high 24.
Shock 76, Mystics 62: At Washington, Cheryl Ford matched a season high with 18 rebounds to lead Detroit over Washington. Elaine Powell added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Sting 66, Lynx 58: At Charlotte, Allison Feaster hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points, leading Charlotte over Minnesota.
