Rangers 7, Blue Jays 6: At Arlington, Texas, Alfonso Soriano scored on a one-out grounder to cap Texas’ two-run, ninth-inning rally and the Rangers beat the Blue Jays. Toronto pitcher Roy Halladay left the game in the third after being struck on the left shin by a line drive.

Athletics 4, White Sox 2: At Chicago, Kirk Saarloos outpitched Jon Garland and Bobby Crosby had two run-scoring doubles as Oakland topped the White Sox.

Red Sox 7, Orioles 2: At Baltimore, Manny Ramirez drove in three runs, Johnny Damon went 4 for 5, and Boston received a strong pitching performance from Bronson Arroyo in beating the Orioles.

Yankees 5, Indians 4: At New York, Chien-Ming Wang gave up a home run on his first pitch before settling down and tossing 6 2/3 effective innings, and the Yankees extended their winning streak to six games with a victory over Cleveland.

Twins 5, Royals 4: At Kansas City, Mo., Joe Mauer had three hits, and Minnesota sent Zack Greinke to his major league-high 11th loss with a victory over the Royals.

Tigers 7, Devil Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Craig Monroe homered and drove in a season-high five runs and Detroit’s bullpen shut down Tampa Bay after the first-inning ejection of starter Nate Robertson for throwing his only pitch of the game behind leadoff man Carl Crawford, leading the Tigers to a victory.

National League

Astros 3, Dodgers 2: At Houston, Roger Clemens allowed two runs in seven strong innings but didn’t get a decision as the Astros beat Los Angeles on Morgan Ensberg’s run-scoring double in the ninth.

Cubs 9, Marlins 6: At Miami, Jeromy Burnitz homered and drove in three runs, Matt Murton had two hits in his big league debut and the Cubs ended an eight-game skid by beating Dontrelle Willis and Florida.

Braves 2, Brewers 1: At Atlanta, pinch-hitter Ryan Langerhans’ bases-loaded single with one out in the ninth inning scored the winning run, and the Braves beat Milwaukee for their sixth straight victory.

Nationals 8, Phillies 7: At Philadelphia, Carlos Baerga hit a three-run homer and Matt Cepicky drove in three runs to lead Washington over the Phillies.

Pirates 6, Mets 5 (10): At Pittsburgh, Humberto Cota finished off a rally with a game-winning single in the 10th inning after Mets closer Braden Looper wasted a four-run lead in the ninth, and the Pirates stunned New York.

Reds 4, Diamondbacks 3: At Phoenix, Ken Griffey Jr. hit a game-tying, three-run homer in the eighth and Rich Aurilia singled in the go-ahead run in the ninth to rally Cincinnati past Arizona.

Cardinals 3, Giants 1: At San Francisco, Mark Mulder pitched seven shutout innings and St. Louis defeated the Giants for its fifth victory in six games.

Padres 12, Rockies 2: At Denver, Ryan Klesko hit his ninth career grand slam as part of a six-run sixth inning to lift San Diego over Colorado.
