Howard Herman’s comments on target

Thank you for printing Howard Herman’s commentary (July 2 Vocal Point).

He knows the Valley so very well and has been in the forefront in the many attempts to incorporate. His logic spells out why incorporation is a must.

In his letter, he speaks loudly to the ridiculous pipe dreams from the crowd of unhappy Sally (Jackson) followers and why we cannot go back. We now have representation on all the boards and commissions and full recognition as a real community.

It is a fact we can influence our community’s destiny only if we are our own city.

To those of us that have served on many boards and commissions under county government, it was enlightening to see how poorly the Spokane Valley that we call home was underrepresented. It was a shock to me personally on the Community Development Block Grant Board to see how very tiny towns literally held sway over the majority of the funds.

I thank Herman for stating so eloquently the truth of incorporation.

I supported incorporation and will continue to do so.
