Vacation Bible schools still coming up

The vacation Bible schools just keep coming as summer marches on.

Each showcases Bible stories, singing, craft projects and games built around a central theme. It’s an annual tradition at many Valley churches as a way to entertain children and teach them about God at the same time.

• The vacation Bible school at Redeemer Lutheran Church usually attracts hundreds of children. The theme of this year’s session is “Freedom.”

Classes begin Monday and will be held daily from 9 to 11:50 a.m. through Friday.

The session is open to all children age 3 through the sixth grade. In addition to taking part in the normal games and Bible lessons, the children also will participate in a mission project.

They will be collecting backpacks and school supplies for schoolchildren in Uzbekistan.

The vacation Bible school is free, and no advance registration is required.

The church is at 3606 S. Schafer Road.

Call the office at 926-6363 for more information.

• Living Water Community Church has scheduled a day camp for kids called “Prayer Safari” for July 18-22. Children ages 4-7 will attend classes each day from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and children ages 8-11 will gather from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $15 for the younger children and $30 for the older children. The all-day campers also will get a lunch.

The camp will be held at the church’s ministry center at 15008 E. 16th Ave.

The first will take place Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon. It’s being called “Children’s Water Olympics” and will feature a variety of water games.

Everyone is welcome. There is no charge, and no registration required.

The second day is set for July 27 and will also run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Children are invited to attend “VBS Revisited” and do crafts, learn Bible stories and sing songs. It is free.

The church is at 202 N. Pines Road.
