Week in review
Fairfield City Council – Several citizens spoke about their dissatisfaction with the current level of law enforcement in Fairfield. Council members plan to set up a public meeting with a representative from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office to address those concerns. The city recently received a $1,000 grant from the Association of Washington Cities for sidewalk repair. (Source: Town Clerk Sue Adams)
Millwood City Council – Council members passed a resolution to endorse the work of the multiagency watershed planning unit. They also passed an ordinance regarding business license requirements. The town has never required licenses before, and the fees and other specifics have yet to be approved by the council. Liberty Lake SCOPE – Volunteers spent most of their time discussing upcoming events in Liberty Lake that they provide traffic control for. Eleven volunteers recently completed fingerprint training and will use those skills to assist the Liberty Lake Police Department. (Source: President Wendy Van Orman)
Central Valley SCOPE – Volunteers discussed their plans for National Night Out on the first Tuesday in August. Members will try to attend as many block parties in the area as they can. They also discussed the recent death of longtime SCOPE volunteer Ed Jackson. (Source: Volunteer Rick Vemeers)
