Orioles 9, Red Sox 1: At Baltimore, Miguel Tejada hit 5 for 5 and Bruce Chen (7-5) allowed one run and five hits in seven-plus innings for Baltimore, who defeated Boston for just their fourth win in 16 games.

Indians 8, Yankees 7: At New York, Jose Hernandez hit a pair of two-run homers off new Yankees starter Darrell May and drove in five runs, and Cleveland snapped a four-game losing streak with a win over New York.

Devil Rays 5, Tigers 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jonny Gomes stopped Tampa Bay’s 10-game losing streak by hitting a two-run, walk-off homer off Troy Percival to beat Detroit.

Athletics 10, White Sox 1: At Chicago, Barry Zito pitched two-hit ball for seven innings and Mark Kotsay hit a three-run homer for Oakland in a win over Chicago.

Royals 12, Twins 8: At Kansas City, Mo., Mike Sweeney had five hits and three RBIs, and the Royals scored six runs in the sixth inning for a wild victory over Minnesota.

Rangers 12, Blue Jays 10: At Arlington, Tex., Mark Teixeira hit two of Texas’ five home runs, giving him an A.L.-leading 24 on the season, as the Rangers defeated Toronto.

National League

Astros 4, Dodgers 2: At Houston, Roy Oswalt won his sixth straight start, Craig Biggio got two hits to tie Barry Bonds for 49th on the all-time hit list and Houston moved back to .500 for the first time since April 22 with a win over Los Angeles.

Phillies 1, Nationals 0: At Philadelphia, David Bell’s sacrifice fly off Hector Carrasco in the ninth inning snapped a rare pitcher’s duel at Citizens Bank Park and lifted Philadelphia to a win over Washington.

Giants 2, Cardinals 0: At San Francisco, Brad Hennessey pitched seven shutout innings in a spot start and Michael Tucker hit a fifth-inning single to break a scoreless tie for San Francisco in a win over St. Louis.

Cubs 8, Marlins 2: At Miami, Derrek Lee hit his 26th homer in his return to the lineup, Kerry Wood won for the first time in 2 1/2 months and Chicago won its second straight following an eight-game skid in a win over Florida.

Pirates 11, Mets 4: At Pittsburgh, Jack Wilson singled in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, then hit his first career grand slam in a seven-run seventh to lead Pittsburgh over New York.

Brewers 9, Braves 6: At Atlanta, Ben Sheets pitched seven strong innings and Brady Clark drove in three runs as Milwaukee snapped Atlanta’s season-high six-game winning streak.

Rockies 1, Padres 0: At Denver, Jason Jennings scattered seven hits in seven innings, All-Star Brian Fuentes escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth and Colorado beat San Diego in the lowest-scoring game in Coors Field history.

Reds 6, Diamondbacks 2: At Phoenix, Adam Dunn hit a grand slam as Cincinnati rallied for the second night in a row to beat Arizona.
