Robinson’s 3 beats Comets
Crystal Robinson hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left in overtime, leading the New York Liberty to a 68-65 win over the Houston Comets on Tuesday in Houston.
Just seconds after Dominique Canty made one of two free throws to tie the game, Robinson took a pass from Ann Wauters and made the long shot for the win.
Robinson and Elena Baranova each scored 13 points to lead New York.
Houston, which saw its six-game winning streak end, was led by the 23 points of Sheryl Swoopes.
Sparks 71, Sting 59: At Los Angeles, Lisa Leslie had a double-double – 26 points, 11 rebounds – to lead the Sparks past Charlotte.
Tammy Sutton-Brown notched a double-double in a losing effort for the Sting, finishing with team highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Powell suspended
The WNBA has suspended Detroit Shock guard Elaine Powell for five games for striking Washington Mystics guard Coco Miller during the second half of the Shock’s victory on Thursday.
