Comedy group to appear at First Covenant

First Covenant Church, 212 S. Division St., is hosting a Christian comedy troupe, “Mr. Chapel,” Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. and next Sunday, July 31 at 10 a.m.

Admission is free, but the church will take free-will offerings.

Hoops ministry will offer day camp

Halo Hoops Ministries is coming to Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive.

The program blends basketball and Christian life skills for boys and girls ages 6 to 13.

Dave Davies, a former basketball player at Mead High School, the current minister of senior high youth and recreation at Masonboro Baptist Church in Wilmington, N.C., and a former player with the Seattle Supersonics, will lead kids in the fundamental skills of basketball and will discuss life skills, the Gospel, and the motivational word of the day.

The program will offer a full-day camp Aug. 1 through 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $160.

There will also be a half-day camp available Aug. 8 through 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $75.

The admission fee includes a T-shirt, a basketball and Gospel materials, and discounts are available for multiple family members.

Labyrinth walks

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is offering its labyrinth for walks and meditation Sunday at 7 p.m.

The carillon bells will accompany walkers.

Talent show

Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., is presenting a talent show with root beer floats Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. as part of the church’s series of events to celebrate 125 years of worship.

The talent is from members of the church, and the root beer floats will be sold after the show for $1.25.

Vacation Bible schools

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., is presenting Bible Boot Camp Monday through Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for preschoolers and from 5:30 to 9 p.m. for children ages 5 through 12.

The cost is $5 per child, which includes a T-shirt, five dinners, snacks and crafts.

New Hope Christian Reformed Church, 3110 W. Francis Ave., is presenting “Safari Adventure,” vacation Bible school Monday through July 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Activities include Bible stories, crafts, games, music and dinner will be served each evening.

The week’s events will finish up July 29 at 6 p.m. with a barbecue on the church lawn and a concert featuring Moko Jumbie.

India Children’s Choir to perform

Millwood Community Presbyterian Church will host the 22-member India Children’s Choir on Sunday. The choir will sing at the 9:30 a.m. service at the church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road. The children, ages 8-12, spend a year touring in the United States, staying with families at the churches where they perform. While in Spokane, the children will spend three nights with Millwood families and enjoy time at the church-owned Camp White in Post Falls.
