Man dies while installing utility line

A Sagle, Idaho, man was killed Thursday while installing a utility line for future homes in the town of Kootenai, according to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffery David Lester, 47, was in a ditch on North Kootenai Road when the side sloughed off, trapping him, police said. He worked for Tucker Excavation and Pipeline, based in Sandpoint.

He was taken to Bonner General Hospital and died shortly after, police said.
