Shadow finish at Cascade

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Shadow travel to Salem, Ore., to take on the Cascade Surge in the season finale today at 2 p.m. with nothing on the line other than pride.

A 5-1 drubbing at the hands of the Surge July 22 meant the postseason was out of reach for the Shadow (10-5-0, 30 points), but the Shadow are looking to end the season on a high note.

The Surge (11-2-2, 35) have scored a league-high 43 goals.

RiverHawks pull it out in ninth

Aaron Wible drove home Cory Rickard in the bottom of the ninth to cap a two-run rally as the Spokane RiverHawks beat the Bellingham Bells 4-3 at Spokane Falls Community College.

Rickard, a Republic grad who plays collegiately at Washington, drove in Gonzaga junior Will Ayala to tie the game. North Central grad Matt Oye, who plays at Washington State, earned the victory to move to 1-0.
