Woman found beaten to death in her home

Associated Press

HELENA – A 26-year-old mother of three boys was found killed in the home she shared with her father, police said Saturday.

Amy Rolfe’s father called 911 after finding the body of his daughter Friday afternoon, Police Chief Troy McGee said.

He declined to provide further details of the investigation, including how she died and if any suspects were in custody.

Autopsy results revealed Rolfe died from multiple, severe blunt-force trauma, County Coroner Mickey Nelson said late Saturday.

Rolfe had worked for several years in the circulation department of the Lewis and Clark Library. Co-workers were shocked and saddened Saturday at the news of her death.

“It’s hard to believe,” said Diana Zimmerman, adding the staff at the library are very close.

She said Rolfe was among the library’s younger employees and her older counterparts were very protective of her. Like most of the people who work at the library, Rolfe had a passion for books – one that she tried to share with her children, Zimmerman said.

A few weeks ago, Zimmerman said Rolfe brought her oldest son to the library with her while she worked. The boy spent the time reading and participating in the library’s book bingo program.

Zimmerman said the boy was extremely quiet and polite, even when he won bingo and went to the desk to collect his prize.

“She’s just so pretty,” Zimmerman said of Rolfe. “And she was very involved as a mother.”

A funeral date had not yet been set.
