Three arrested, charged with theft of trailer

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley police arrested two men and a 13-year-old boy early Friday after investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle in a neighborhood.

Thomas Kimberling, 23, and Scott M. Fraser, 27, and his teen son were each charged with second-degree theft, Spokane Valley police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said. The boy was booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention center, and the two men were booked into Spokane County jail.

About 2:45 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the 14600 block of East Olympic where several residents had reported seeing the occupants of a Chevrolet Blazer stopping and looking into vehicles, Reagan said. The officer spotted a white Chevy Blazer towing a trailer a short time later.

When the officer stopped the Blazer’s driver, he was visibly nervous and shaking as he handed over identification for himself and his two passengers, Reagan said. The adult male and 13-year-old boy refused to comment to the officer.

The trailer being towed behind the Blazer had been chained and locked in the driveway of a woman unknown to the driver, Reagan said. Police searched the Blazer and found several items including latex and leather gloves, a police scanner, bolt cutters, numerous CDs, stereo components, life jackets, a wet suit and several hand tools.

The men told police the teen had acted as a lookout while they stole and hooked up the trailer, Reagan said.

Couple charged in theft of woman’s credit cards, checks

A couple temporarily staying with a Spokane Valley woman took more than the few days of shelter she offered.

Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested the couple Friday after the woman discovered 45 checks, her social security card, numerous credit cards and her driver’s license were missing from her purse, sheriff’s office spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said.

Benjamin Anthony Robledo, 22, and Daja R. Prickett, 22, were each charged with second-degree theft and forgery.

The victim received a call Friday from a check cashing business to confirm she’d written a $100 check to a man, Reagan said. She told the business she had not. The victim tracked the man and woman down at Northern Quest Casino and called the sheriff’s office.

Robledo and Prickett were booked into Spokane County Jail.

Expired tabs lead to felony, misdemeanor charges

Expired license plate tags led to a 26-year-old man’s arrest Friday on two felony charges.

Spokane Valley police arrested Christopher M. Kennedy, 10605 E. Sixth, on two counts of second-degree possession of stolen property, Spokane Valley police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said. A Visa and an Oregon tax refund with two other men’s names were found the wallet he was carrying.

An officer was stopped at 12200 E. Main Ave. Friday when he noticed the license plate tags on the car next to him had expired in February, Reagan said. The driver told the officer his license was expired, and he had no proof of insurance or registration for the car.

The officer found the Visa and tax refund in a search, Reagan said. Misdemeanor charges for traffic infractions are pending.
