Powerball winner, second alum aid school
SALMON, Idaho – A Boise man who recently joined the ranks of U.S. multimillionaires and a second anonymous donor have agreed to chip in thousands of dollars needed to revamp Salmon High School’s sports facilities.
Brad Duke, who won a $220.3 million Powerball jackpot on Memorial Day, is making “a significant commitment” to improve the school’s football field, replace aging bleachers and install a sprinkler system, said Superintendent Dan Grabowska.
Duke is a 1990 Salmon High graduate and a former state champion pole vaulter.
Another graduate of the high school in remote central Idaho – a North Idaho businessman who wants to remain anonymous, Grabowska says – has offered $100,000 to replace the cinderblock track.
