Volunteers needed to help build playground, stay for picnic, games

The Spokesman-Review

Volunteers are invited to help build a playground for the Dishman Commons neighborhood, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, just south of the intersection of 16th Avenue and Herald Road in Spokane Valley.

After the landscape work is completed, the playground equipment is installed and picnic benches are built, a free picnic will be held from noon to 1 p.m.

There will a short program including a NeighborWorks charter presentation and a recognition award for outstanding community partner.

NeighborWorks America is a national network supported by Congress to mobilize public, private and local resources to revitalize and improve neighborhoods and their surrounding communities.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., the Dishman Commons Homeowners Association has planned games for children of all ages.
